Nest Cam monitoring is very easy and affordable these days.
The revamped, more affordable, Nest Aware plans went live a few years ago, offering a much simpler premium offering from the Google-owned brand.
Nest Aware is now a two-tier model.
First, there’s basic Nest Aware, which offers 30 days of event video history and covers all your Nest home security cameras for $6 per month / £5 in the UK.
Then there’s Nest Aware Plus, which gets you up to 60 days of event video history and 10 days of 24/7 video history, which costs $12 / £10 per month.
That compares to before where, on a device-by-device basis you’re paying $5 a month for five days of video history or $10 for 10 days.
In a home with just two cameras, the savings and benefits are already obvious. The savings become substantial in homes with multiple Nest devices.
You can subscribe on an annual basis to save as well, as seen in the image above. In the US, for example, Nest’s annual membership is $60 or $120 for a Plus account.
All features like Intelligent Alerts and Activity Zones are available on both tiers, but Google also introduced event-based recordings in the new Nest Aware plans, which work as an alternative to 24/7 recording and start recording only when you’re awake. are when the camera detects motion. or voice, even sending you an alert.
The new Nest Aware was initially introduced in 19 countries around the world… Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Germany, Spain, USA, Finland, France, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway , UK, Sweden and Switzerland.
If you have an existing Nest Aware subscription, you can upgrade to a new plan through the Google Store.
One thing to be aware of though – Nest Aware requires you to switch from a Nest to a Google account, if you haven’t already. You can also keep your existing membership if you want.
Recently, Google announced that Nest is going to make it mandatory for users to use two-factor authentication (2FA) when logging into their Nest accounts.
There’s also some good news in that premium features are now free on the new Nest Cam lineup.
Most notably, Smart Alerts for people, animals, vehicles, and packages, which you used to have to pay a monthly fee for, are now free on the next-generation Nest Cam trio.
